How to Win

We have these four seasons here in the USA. Not the ones you're thinking, the other ones: football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. Each has their own set of fans. They will dress funny, act funny and spend money like crazy to watch and root for their team. They will get up early to go to a game, they will take off work, even vacation to go see their team. They will buy special sports packages of programming to see all their games on TV, then they record all they can watch live and don't want anyone to tell them about the game until after they watch it on the recording. They will put decals on their vehicle, wear caps, hats and clothing with their team's logo all over them. And if they don't win their championship this year they will talk about ways their team can win the next year. What else can I say? We can see that they root for their team!
That's who I was at one time in my life. My world was around football. I think the worst fuss Jan and I have ever had was over me going to a football game. I won't tell you about that one, we remember it to well. LOL! Let's just say we have both grown a lot since those early days of married life. But, let me ask each of us something: in the time of need, what does being a sports fan get us? Oh, yes, we are happy and sometimes sad. But we are always a fan! It's just something that gets us inside. It causes an adrenaline rush, our heart races, we are excited, and we even get mad if things don't go the way we think they should.
The only true "win" we have that is lasting is salvation, for then we have the right perspective on life. Things are put in order and we see what we have really needed all along, it was total peace in our hearts. We had been looking all around us, but we couldn't see it. Why? We were looking at things through our eyes.
I challenge each of us today to stop and ask for help in life. Ask Jesus to guide you and make you happy. I know He will, and He will cause you to laugh in a way you have never laughed before. Why? Because you now see there is someone who cares for you with a love that doesn't have to be bought, for he has already willingly paid the price for our happiness. How? Salvation through the cross of Calvary.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16 NIV

So, who truly has the wining team? Those who are on Team Jesus!
